Melbourne: Cricket Australia has unveiled the squad lineup for the upcoming International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup, as well as the tours of South Africa and India.
The 18-member starting squad for the ICC World Cup has been officially announced. Australia is scheduled to participate in 3 T20Is and 5 ODIs in South Africa, followed by 3 ODIs in India.
Notable absentees from the T20I squad include skipper Pete Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Cameron Green, and David Warner. However, fans can rest assured as these players will be joining the team for the ODI series in South Africa. Instead, Mitchell Marsh has been assigned the responsibility of leading the T20I squad.
In unfortunate news, Glenn Maxwell will be unable to participate in the ODI series against South Africa due to prior family commitments. However, he will rejoin the team for the India leg of the tour.
Adding to the list of injuries, Pat Cummins sustained a fractured wrist during the first day of the final Test of the Ashes series. Currently, he is undergoing a six-week rehabilitation period, after which he will lead the ODI squad. During this time, Pete Cummins will lead the team, with David Warner joining the ODI squad. Unfortunately, Marnus Labuschagne has not made it to the cut.
With some key players unavailable for certain matches, the Australian cricket team will rely on their talented roster to put on a stellar performance in the World Cup, South Africa, and India tours. Cricket enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the action-packed matches that lie ahead for the Australian side.
