In a surprising move, Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, has announced that he will be stepping down from his position. Musk made the announcement on his own social media platform, stating that he will be replaced by a woman in six weeks’ time. However, he has not disclosed her identity.
After relinquishing his role as CEO, Musk will continue to be involved in Twitter as the executive chairman and chief technology officer, overseeing various areas of the social media platform.
Musk purchased Twitter for a staggering $44 billion in October 2022 and has since implemented several changes. He has been criticized for firing thousands of Twitter employees and introducing a subscription plan called Twitter Blue. This plan required users to pay a monthly fee to acquire blue ticks, which were previously used to verify accounts.
Additionally, many of Twitter’s features have been made exclusive to Twitter Blue subscribers, such as longer posts and encrypted direct messages. Musk has also reinstated blocked accounts, including that of former US President Donald Trump.
Musk’s announcement to step down as CEO of Twitter has garnered significant attention and speculation about his reasons for doing so. As of yet, it remains unclear who will take over as the new CEO and what changes they may bring to the social media platform.
