Haveli District Azad Kashmir

The Haveli District Azad Kashmir is one of the 10 districts. It was previously a tehsil of the Bagh District but was elevated to district status on 1 July 2009.

The area’s population was counted at 152,124 at the census that was conducted in 2017. Pahari, Gujari, and Kashmiri are the primary indigenous languages, with Pahari being spoken by approximately 65% of the population, Gujari by approximately 30%, and Kashmiri by approximately 5%.

Administration

The Haveli District Azad Kashmir is divided into three tehsils:

  1. Haveli Tehsil
  2. Khurshidabad Tehsil
  3. Mumtazabad Tehsil

The district has 12 union councils consisting of 95 villages and one municipal corporation, Forward Kahuta.

Geography

The Haveli District may be found at a lofty elevation of roughly 2,457 meters (or 8,000 feet) above mean sea level. The Bedore Top, which has an elevation of 3,740 meters, is the tallest mountain in the region. Numerous popular tourist destinations can be found in the region, including Darra Haji Peer, Lasdana, Sindhgala, Neel Kunth, Aliabad, Sheraziabad, Kalamula, Jabbi Syedan, and Mohri Syed Ali. Many people from the district have moved elsewhere, and some now hold influential positions in Pakistan.

The Baramulla District of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir forms the northern and northeastern boundary of the Haveli District. The Poonch District of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir forms the southern and southernmost boundary of the Haveli District.

The Bagh District and the Poonch District of Azad Kashmir form the western boundary of the Haveli District.
