Meta was fined billions of rupees for failing to comply with European privacy laws and failing to protect customer data.
Ireland’s Data Protection Commission (DPC) has fined Meta, the company that owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, $275 million, which is about 62 billion rupees in Pakistani rupees.
The DPC said that the investigation was initiated by the DPC following complaints of several Facebook users’ personal data being made available on the internet and the fine was imposed on Meta after a one-and-a-half-year investigation.
It should be noted that in September 2021, the DPC had imposed a penalty on Meta regarding WhatsApp data.
